MS Sea Spirit is a luxury expedition style ship with 51 ocean facing cabins in multiple categories for up to ~114 guests all with private en-suite facilities and ocean views some with balconies and a fleet of zodiacs for going ashore. Excellent on board common facilities such an elevator, observation lounge bar, library/games room and gym and on deck hot tub etc.
Itinerary highlights
●● Visit the Falkland Islands and South Georgia with their huge penguin, elephant and fur seals colonies
●● Set foot on the Antarctic continent with its spectacular scenery of snow capped peaks, mighty glaciers and glistening ice bergs
●● Learn about the early explorers and whaling history and visit Sir Ernest Shackleton’s grave Buenos Aries to Ushuaia
Day 1: Ushuaia | The day begins with a boat trip on the Beagle Channel and a nature hike in the Tierra del Fuego National Park or a visit to the Martial Glacier. Embark and sail in the evening for the Peninsula.
Days 2-3: At sea & Falkland Islands | At sea our wildlife and history lectures and next day to Carcass and Saunders Islands for beach treks and visits to penguins colonies here.
Day 4-8: At sea & South Georgia | Subject to weather conditions we plan to visit: Elsehul Bay home to seals and penguins; Salisbury Plain flanked by glaciers home to ~ 200,000 King penguins; Stromness Bay site of Shackleton’s landing for hisisland crossing; Grytviken with the remains of the whaling station to which Shackleton trekked and the site of his burial; Gold Harbour situated at the foot of the Bertrab glacier home to seals and penguins.
Day 9-11: At sea & Elephant Island | At Elephant Island famous due to Shackletons exploits, weather permitting, zodiac around the island.
Days 12-16: The Antarctic Peninsula | Depending on the weather we visit Brown Bluff, Deception and Pleneau Islands and cruise the Lemaire Channel with zodiac trips ashore for wildlife viewing. Our ship enters the crater lake on Deception Island via Neptune’s Bellows a gap in the crater wall and cruises the spectacular Lemaire Channel through sea ice, between steep mountain sides and past ice bergs.
Days 17-18: Drake Passage | We cross Drake Passage looking out for last glimpses of wild life and recap your trip highlights.
Day 19: Ushuaia to Buenos Aries | An early morning arrival at Ushaia and after breakfast transfers to the airport for return flights Buenos Aries where your cruise ends.
