The RV Sukapha built 2006 in traditional colonial era style was refurbished 2014 and has 12 twin bed air-conditioned river facing cabins each with private facilities and picture windows. Public areas include a spacious lounge with French windows, covered sun deck with recliners and a dining room with full height windows down both sides.
Itinerary highlights
●● 8 day Hoogly river cruise from Farakka to Calcutta with many shore excursions and all meals while on board
●● 4 full days touring in an air-conditioned coach to New Dehli, Agra and Jaipur staying in luxury hotels visiting the major attractions such as the Red Fort, the Qutub Minar and Ghandi’s memorial in Dehli, the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, Fatehpursikri en route to Jaipur with its Amber Fort reached by an elephant ride.
Day 1: Arrive Calcutta | Transfer to hotel – no activities or meals.
Day 2: Calcutta-Farakka & Embarkation | Morning at leisure with pm transfer from hotel to the train station for the 6 hour journey to Farakka and transfer to RV Sukapha.
Day 3: RV Sukapha, Jangipur | Optional extra cost – visit Gaur (English Bazar) to visit palaces, mosques and historical remains.
Day 4: RV Sukapha, Baranagar | Walk to the village at Baranagar then sail on to moor at Murshidabad and make a visit to the spectacular Hazarduari, Nashipara and Katgola Palaces and the great Katra mosque.
Day 5: RV Sukapha, Khushbagh | Shore excursion by cycle rickshaw to the tomb of Siraj-ud-Dailah then sailing to a mooring at Berhampurto. Walk to the site of the 1757 battle of Plassey before mooring overnight at Katwa.
Day 6: RV Sukapha, Mattari | Excursion to brassworking factory and later to Mayapur to visit the spectacular ISKCON temple.
Day 7: RV Sukapha, Kalna | A cycle rickshaw excursion to see some of Bengal’s most attractive terracotta temples also the unique Shiva temple before sailing on to land near Bandel with a visit to the imposing Imambara complex.
Day 8: RV Sukapha, Chandernagore | A morning cycle rickshaw visit to Chinsura. Tour at the former French possession of Chandernagore.
Day 9: Calcutta – Dehli | Disembarking to Calcutta airport for flight to Dehli.
Day 10: Old & New Dehli | Visit the Red Fort with its imposing walls and exquisite palaces, then passing the immense Jama Masjid mosque where 20,000 can pray at one time to Mahatma Ghandi’s memorial. Afternoon visiting the sights of New Dehli including the Qutub Minar and Rashtrapti Bhawn the official residence of the Indian President. Overnight Dehli.
Day 11: Dehli-Agra | By air-conditioned coach to visit the world famous Taj Mahal and the Agra fort. Overnight Agra.
Day 12: Agra-Jaipur | A stop over at Fatehpursikri built by the mogul emperor Akbar in 1569 to see the impressive and well preserved palaces, public buildings and tombs before continuing to overnight in Jaipur.
Day 13: Jaipur | A morning excursion to the Amber Fort passing the Hawa Mahal ‘Palace of the Winds’ on the way and arriving by elephant to visit it’s many attractions followed by a visit Jaipur City and it’s City Palace.
Day 14-15 Jaipur – Dehli | After breakfast fly to overnight to Dehli with the rest of the day free. Transfer to airport next day.
