MS Expedition is an intimate comfortable expedition style ship with cabins in 5 categories for up to ~140 guests each featuring ocean-facing windows or portholes and private en-suite facilities and has its own fleet of zodiacs for going ashore as well as excellent on board common facilities such as lounges, bars, gym, sauna and observation decks etc.
Itinerary highlights
Spend 7 – 11 days cruising through breathtaking fjords, admire massive glaciers, experience the midnight sun, brave the Arctic waters, take a polar plunge and enjoy the silence of the Arctic tundra.
Explore on foot and via Zodiac for polar bears, lounging seals, grazing reindeer and visit the areas spectacular bird colonies.
Day 1: Longyearbyen | Embark the MS Expedition in the afternoon and sail from Longyearbyen in the evening.
Day 2-6: (alt-7 and -10) | Visit ice-covered fjords with breathtaking mountain scenery and glaciers. Spend time exploring the natural wilderness searching for polar bears hunting seals. At one or more of the stops, you may have the opportunity to see arctic fox or Svalbard’s unique reindeer.
G Adventures goal is to give travelers the best possible opportunity to see wildlife in and around the Svalbard archipelago and, depending on ice conditions, different areas of the archipelago are explored.
Early season voyages often provide the greatest opportunity to see large ice floes in the Arctic pack ice, which usually means excellent wildlife viewing. Later in the season, it is possible to cover more territory, which allows exploration of more of the archipelago into the less explored regions of Nordaustlandet and Kvitøya, or the continental edges where large whales are whales are attracted by nutrient rich up wellings.
Day 7: (alt 8 alt 11) Disembark Longyearbyen | Breakfast on board before departing for the airport where your cruise ends.
